1997-98 was a special season. The highlight was the collaboration of San Francisco Girls Chorus with the legendary Moscow Chamber Orchestra in the Vivaldi’s “Gloria”. This concert also included U.S. premiere of Violin Concerto by Russian composer Alexander Arutiunian. The St. Petersburg String Quartet, proclaimed as a “flawless ensemble” by the New York Times, performed the West Coast Premiere of String Quartet No. 1 by Natalia Medvedovskaya. Members of the Jewish Community Center in Palo Alto called this “the best concert since coming to America.” Then came Double Exposure, a duo of a leading British violin virtuosi and one of the world’s leading black female composers and pianists, Jamaican-born Eleanor Alberga.
